Event FAQ

What should I bring?

  • Signed medical form [download pdf]
You will not be able to participate in the event with out a medical form. If under 18, the form must be signed by your parent or guardian.
  • Your marching instrument/equipment
    • LEADERSHIP: Since we’ll have music rehearsals indoors and outdoors, be sure you bring an instrument appropriate for both. Bring your own reeds, valve oil, and other accessories. You do not need to bring a music stand.

NOTE: If you play oboe, bassoon, or another “concert-only” instrument, and you play a secondary instrument in marching band (flute, clarinet, saxophone, etc.), please bring your secondary instrument only.

If you do not have access to an outdoor instrument, you are still welcome to observe (and participate as is practical) in music rehearsals. Unfortunately, System Blue does not have instruments available to loan.
    • PERCUSSION: Bring a drum and a drum stand that is appropriate for your needs. Any brand, size or color is acceptable. (You can securely store you drum at the site for multi-day events.)
    • COLOR GUARD: Bring your own equipment. A flag pole with a silk attached that you are comfortable with. Any size, any color. If you would like to learn rifle and/or sabre, please bring that equipment as well. Any size, any brand. We encourage everyone to try all 3 pieces of equipment, no matter your previous experience. If you spin with gloves at your school, please bring them.
  • Athletic shoes
Proper footwear is a MUST for health and safety during visual rehearsals (marching technique sessions). Sandals, flip-flops, boots, and other non-athletic footwear are not permitted.
  • Attire suited for movement and for outdoor activities
    • Shorts and light-colored t-shirts are best suited for outdoor camp activities. Freedom of movement is essential for stretching and visual block (marching/movement technique). Please, no jeans!
    • Sunglasses
    • Cap or visor
    • Be prepared for outdoor rehearsals and for changing weather conditions. Daytime and nighttime temperatures often vary greatly.
  • Other items for health and safety
    • Insulated water jug (half-gallon or larger).
    • Though water will be provided, it is essential that you have own personal water supply for outdoor rehearsals.
    • Sunscreen (for skin and for lips!)
    • Personal medication (ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc.). System Blue cannot provide medication of any kind.
  • Money for extra meals
Some meals and snacks will be provided at no cost. Consult the schedule and plan appropriately for meals that are NOT included as part of the event. You may also wish to bring extra money for souvenir items (optional).

What is the refund policy?

Because we work with many instructors, venues, t-shirt vendors, and caterers, it is important that we have an accurate headcount well in advance of the event. For this reason, we are unable to offer any refunds within 30 days of the event. If it is before 30 days from the event, please contact Erik Christ to request a refund.

Thank you for understanding.
